Bayou Preservation's conservators have a variety of backgrounds and specialties in materials conservation. All of our conservators have post-graduate degrees in Historic Preservation, and we are proficient in masonry, stone, plaster, metals, and paints and coatings.
PortfolioMonument to the Immigrant Sculpture RestorationBayou Preservation restored this marble monument located in New Orleans’ Woldenburg Park after it had seen years of vandalism. Restoration included reattaching a the sculpture’s broken finger, cleaning, and in-painting thousands of inscription characters. Elements and tourists made this a difficult job site, but the restored site looks great.View Item
PortfolioOld Man River Sculpture RestorationBayou Preservation restored the Old Man River sculpture in New Orleans’ Woldenburg Park in 2017. The restoration of this marble sculpture included stone patching, cleaning, consolidation, and crack repairs. Special materials and techniques were used to carefully match the natural veining of the marble material.View Item
PortfolioChalmette National CemeteryBayou Preservation worked with the National Park Service and the National Trust for Historic Preservation on resetting headstones at the Chalmette National Cemetery for their annual HOPE (Hands On Preservation Experience) project. We taught over 50 volunteers how to safely and correctly reset headstones, and the importance of proper cemetery preservation.View Item
