Poydras (Orphans) Tomb

Bayou Preservation completed the restoration of the large, cruciform Poydras Tomb in Lafayette Cemetery #1. The restoration included replacing the lost marble enclosure tablets, repairing the existing stucco, removing paint and biological growth from the marble urn, and applying traditional limewash. The Poydras Tomb was originally for the orphaned girls who lived at Poydras Orphans’ Home.
